Mayor of Port Harcourt City, Hon. Victor Ihunwo has rejected the setting up and subsequent inauguration of a new Youth Executives for Elekahia Community by Chief Anthony Akarolo and his team.

The Port Harcourt City Local Government Chairman, Hon Victor Ihunwo said the action’s of Chief Akarolo and his supporters amounted to what he termed ‘a direct assault’ to him as Mayor and by extension, the Governor of the state, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who had before now proscribed all community youth bodies in the state.

The Major said Chief Anthony Akarolo and his team lack the authority to inaugurate any youth Executive for Elekahia Community, as the ban on all community youth activities is still in force.

He directed the Elekahia and Trans Amadi Police Divisions to arrest any person or group of persons that parade themselves as Elekahia Community Youth Executives for prosecution.

In a statement, Victor Ihunwo said: “Chief Akarolo and his team are hereby warned to desist forthwith from engaging in activities that will breach the peace of Elekahia Community or face the wrath of the Local Government Council”.
